How does it work?
The Fisher-Price Rockin’ Record Player operates as an engaging and interactive musical toy designed specifically for preschool children aged 3 years and older. The toy features a rotating turntable, where kids can place one of the included double-sided records. Each record offers two unique songs from five different musical styles: Country, Pop, Mindfulness, Kids Classics, and Hip-Hop.
To play music, kids simply lift the record arm and place it in the groove of their selected record, mimicking how a real record player functions. As they lower the arm, the record spins, and the corresponding song begins to play. This design encourages children to explore music independently while enhancing their motor skills and understanding of cause-and-effect relationships.
Children can also customize their listening experience by turning the volume knob to adjust the sound levels, thereby granting them a sense of control and independence. Notably, the toy incorporates fun auditory effects such as scratching sounds and vinyl pops when records are stopped mid-play, adding an extra layer of realism and excitement.
In addition to the entertaining music experience, the Rockin’ Record Player and its accessories promote open-ended play, encouraging children to engage in pretend play scenarios, building self-confidence, and nurturing their imagination.

Got this for my 3 year old as a birthday gift. She loves my ‘grown up’ record player, and loves to ask me to ‘play songs’ on it. I thought this would be a fun thing for her to play with so she can play her own songs, but I didn’t expect her to have as much fun as she has with it! Each one of the records has 2 songs on it, one on each side, and each record is a different style. She loves the hip hop record the most and the pop rock comes in a close 2nd. What’s nice is that there’s no needle on the arm of the turntable, so there’s nothing to worry about her hurting herself with. It has cool features like when you stop a record mid song it ‘scratches’ and the sound of a vinyl popping which I love! You do have to monitor it, though as we learned that unlike a real record player, if you don’t move the arm off the record after a song ends it just keeps playing that song over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

The second I took it out of the Amazon box I already had a feeling it was defective. The plastic was cut open and the cardboard was torn on one side. I hoped maybe the box was just damaged and the item was fine but nope, wouldn’t work. Then when I opened the battery compartment hoping new batteries would do the trick I found Duracell batteries, confirming it was a return of a defective product. Why they would resell this to me I don’t know but I am not happy about my time being wasted.
