How does it work?

The Brondell Non-Electric Bidet Seat works by utilizing a dual nozzle system to provide a clean and refreshing wash with ambient temperature water, eliminating the need for toilet paper. This bidet seat is designed to fit on elongated toilets and can be installed easily without any electrical connections or batteries. It operates purely through water pressure; when the user turns the textured chrome dial, it activates the selected nozzle (either for rear or front wash) that extends from a hidden compartment, providing a soothing freshwater wash.

The water pressure and nozzle position can be adjusted according to the user’s preference, ensuring a customized experience. After use, the nozzles automatically retract and self-clean, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness. With its ergonomic design, slow-closing lid, and high-quality parts, the Brondell bidet seat not only enhances bathroom hygiene but also adds an elegant touch to the decor, making it suitable for modern bathrooms.

My first bidet in my home. Dedicated, replacement seat model such as this seems superior to an add-on under your existing toilet seat. The two nozzles (front or rear wash) are nicely recessed inside a shroud until water pressure activates them.Fittings and parts were high quality. My specific toilet required that it be lifted off the floor to gain access for fittings. That’s unique to my installation and a bit overkill, but I wanted to ensure no leaks or cross threading of fittings on my 15+ year old toilet in a cramped space. It is easy to do and took 20 minutes. If you do this, you’ll need a new wax seal.Once that was complete, installation was very easy. Water lines are high quality with good compression gaskets and metal fittings that properly rotate so you can orient them as you see fit.Function of the unit is very good. I like the soft, positive clicks of the knob. When you first rotate it to either front or rear it initatiates a self cleaning feature. Very nice for cleanliness of nozzles in case some splashing occured during previous use.I’ve used very expensive bidets in Tokyo and Europe. They were nice but very often a simple, reliable design is best. I don’t need heat, an air blower, or electronics that may fail. The water spray was not abrupt or jolting. I like that you can control intensity.Overall, I highly recommend. Clever design, no electronics, good quality fittings and low cost makes this a winner.

I like the look and overall feel but quite disappointed in mounting hardware and the poor plumbing-related drawings and instructions.First – mounting hardware (threaded nylon screws) are an inferior choice for being able to tighten down enough to eliminate seat movement for adults weighing over about 175-lbs. For the U.S. market, body sizes are considerably larger than from the design source geo-population. This seat should have stainless mounting screws just as was the case on the Kohler I removed. If this product continues to function reliably over time, I will purchase stainless replacement screws and reinstall this. In the interim, there is a risk of over tightening and “stripping” these nylon screw threads seeking to achieve best stability. Unlike metallic hardware, nylon seems okay right up to the point where they fail whereas it’s almost (if not impossible) to strip hefty stainless hardware in such an application as this. Kohler knows this obviously but one pays a bit more. The other deficiency is simply poor instructions. Personally, I enjoy DIY projects including plumbing and electrical. My education is in engineering; technical writing is a big part of that profession. That said, one doesn’t need to be an engineer to write a well-organized, COMPLETE set of simple assembly instructions like the ones needed here. A high-school freshman could organize and write better assembly instructions than the ones provided. There are parts included with this product which are not mentioned nor diagrammed. CRITICAL feature details which are inexplicably omitted would have really been helpful to prevent inadvertent “Dead-in-the-water” events until I found the answer on a forum. Otherwise, the solution is to stop installation before causing damage and then navigate the task of obtaining contact info and calling some customer service number (unless you are mechanically-minded and luckily discover “tricks” yourself as I did.) The instructions are just not complete (including no mention of some materials/parts). Not everyone knows the purpose of Teflon tape, for example, nor the proper way direction to apply it such that thread-sliced fragments are not created that travel downline and clog valves and/or spray nozzles. Why give people this item (and mis-sized rubber washer) and have them searching the text hoping for clues when a simple illustration or diagram would do. It’s a pet peeve and I would gladly donate my time, tech-writing and illustration design expertise just to help people have a good experience. There are other products, especially from offshore, needing to attend to these very same issues. Kudos to the many who had an uneventful, standard fit and size installation. On the other hand, My wife will likely want her previous, plain-Jane seat reinstalled due to its stainless screw mounting and rock-solid stability. But, hopefully, removing the nylon screws and adding stainless hardware I hope to salvage this product which would does have some positive features overall.
