How does it work?

Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen is designed to provide skin protection and hydration in one lightweight formula. At the core of its functionality is its broad-spectrum SPF 30, which utilizes zinc oxide as the main active ingredient. Zinc oxide physically blocks harmful UVA and UVB rays, forming a barrier on the skin’s surface that prevents sun damage.

In addition to its protective capabilities, this sunscreen contains squalane, a natural hydrating agent that mimics the skin’s own oils, providing essential moisture. This dual-action feature not only protects from the sun but also acts as a primer, preventing makeup from pilling and creating a smooth canvas for foundation application.

The product is designed to have a sheer, weightless texture, which minimizes the potential for a greasy feel or heavy residue—attributes that are often undesirable in traditional sunscreens. Upon application, users may notice a slight white cast from the zinc oxide, which typically fades over time.

Moreover, it claims to shield the skin from environmental pollutants and blue light damage, making it particularly beneficial for urban dwellers or those who spend extended time in front of screens. With a focus on a dewy, non-greasy finish, it seeks to enhance the skin’s overall appearance, leaving it feeling fresher and brighter throughout the day.

I have been looking for minimal only sunscreen for a while and I am so glad that I found this one. It’s not greasy and also keep my face moisturized. It doesn’t have clumps residue like others that I used. It does have a bit of white film left on your face when you first apply because of the zinc oxide, but I don’t like tinted sun cream so I am not complaining: )

I’ve used this product for a long time and loved it: good SPF, non-greasy, non-sticky. Back in December I started to get a terrible rash on my chin to the point that it was peeling painfully- I had to go to a dermatologist and get a prescription topical gel to cure it. At the time I didn’t guess it was the moisturizer because I had been using it for so long with no problems. The dermatologist had me switch soaps and moisturizer to be safe and it cleared up.In February I tried using it again and the rash started to come back after just a day, which is when I realized it was the moisturizer. I thought maybe some bacteria had gotten in the tube and threw it away- the rash then disappeared on its own. I went back to the generic moisturizer. It’s now May and I decided to buy a fresh tube because I wanted the SPF protection as I started to spend more time in the sun. I just put on the new tube this morning and not 12 hours later my whole face and neck has erupted in a rash. Either they changed the formulation or there is a manufacturing problem but I STRONGLY advise against buying this in case it is a manufacturing issue. I also noticed that the packaging came with an insert saying the tube was covered in a protective foil but there still may be product apparent in the cap, but I didn’t see the foil when I opened it (even though there was plastic tape sealing it from the outside). So disappointed and angry, I loved this product but I will never use it again.
