How does it work?

The ACDelco Gold Engine Water Pump works by circulating coolant through your vehicle’s engine and radiator system to regulate engine temperature, preventing overheating. This process begins when the engine is running and heat builds up; the pump ensures that the coolant flows efficiently from the engine to the radiator and back.

The water pump is constructed with durable materials, featuring heat-treated shaft assemblies that enhance its strength against wear. Seals made of coated materials promote leak-free performance, ensuring longevity during use. The professional-grade gaskets, seals, and O-rings included with the pump facilitate a seamless installation, providing all necessary components right out of the box.

As the pump operates, it moves coolant under pressure, directing it to areas needing cooling. This setup effectively maintains optimal operating temperatures, which is vital for the performance and longevity of the vehicle’s engine. The ACDelco Gold Water Pump is designed to fit a variety of vehicles, particularly those made by GM, catering to a diverse audience of car owners looking for high-quality replacement parts.

Water pump fit great, and the seals worked well, even though I was a little hesitant about them when I opened the box. Didn’t appear to be as much material as the originals. But they did work with no problems. Only been running the new pump for a week, so not sure about the longevity, but I will update the review if there are any issues.

I had a 2001 GMC Seirra 1500 5.3 liter z71 my water pump started leaking. I purchased one of these water pumps truck then started to over heat at idle. Replaced everything in the cooling system on the truck including the radiator that was recently replaced but it had to have a plug in it cause I wouldn’t get the proper amount of water circulating so I replaced it and i had the same results truck would over heat at idle. After going through the entire cooling system replacing everything cause it can’t be the water pump that is a brand new one. Naught everything you could possibly replace in the cooling system replaced 3 thermostats also trouble shooting this issue by the way which was making me very aggravated to say the leastAfter replacing everything it was still overheating at idle and it all pointed to a faulty water pump lack of flow I figured. Cause it never did overheat at a higher RPM.I ended up ordering new one just like the first one I’m thinking it’s an Ac Delco that is the parts GM usually uses in their truck, and cars. Im thinking maybe the impeller diameter is wrong with out being able to find out the impeller size I placed an order for a new one just like it, long story short it did the same exact thing maybe even the 2nd one was even worse than the first one. After a ton of cursing it all still pointed to lack of flow at idle.I ended up going to buy another water pump from ORielys and see what happens cause I have purchased water pumps from them before and never had any issues like.I picked one up and I didn’t feel like taking all that crap apart again for the third time I was mad at this point.Very madI went to ORielys and picked up the water pump they recommended which was a Murray water pump installed it and it worked just fineSo I am 3 water pumps deep on my truck and this AC Delco water pump that they say supposed to fit my 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 causes it to over heat do not purchase this water pump it doesn’t work on that truck. It won’t be enough flow to keep it cool at idle the impeller diameter has to be wrong.Only thing I could come up with.Dont even waste your money on this pump.Defiantly not for a 2001 GMC Serria 1500 5.3 liter truck.
