Honest review.Didn’t look into standing desks much before purchasing. Admittedly was a bit of an impulse purchase because I bought a new office chair (which was also a bit impulsive) after doing more work from home and being annoyed at the chair comfort and where my legs sat in the desk I had. Previous desk was ikea with some drawers and felt like I was sitting off-center in the desk (I mix sound and need to be centered on my desk for speaker-to-ear placement) this was also causing me to bump my knees a lot. Previous chair was a knock off eames management chair that just was making my back hurt, but I digress.First off, my fault for not looking closely but I didn’t realize that the center panel on the front of the desk surface was actually gray and the whole top wasn’t wood grain. My fault, and it was a surprise but having used it for a week now, I don’t mind this as much as I did when I was putting it together.Second, assembly was annoying. Instructions were weak at best. Did several steps wrong and had to re-do. Even after taking extra care after having done previous steps wrong, I still did things wrong and had to re-do. Also spent a lot of time just looking at parts and pictures trying them in different ways attempting to figure it out. Wasn’t particularly intuitive and the instructions and their accompanied instructions weren’t descriptive enough. All in all, I’d say it took at least three hours. I’ve also noticed after moving it into place a couple of missed screws. Lots of leftover hardware. Probably mainly included as extras, but also plenty I missed, I’m sure. Relatively stable regardless especially considering how much weight I have on it.It doesn’t feel weak, but doesn’t feel super strong…. The electronics work for now, but I don’t have a lot of faith in their longevity. Between the materials of the surface and the electronics it feels cheap. The legs seem solid.My biggest issue after a week of use is the hard angle on the front panels. The front panels of the surface should be rounded for wrists. They’re hard angles and I wish they were rounded on the front for my wrists sitting at the keyboard. My last desk was also 90 degree angles on the front panel but I think because I can get so keyed in ergonomically to this desk I really notice them and find myself needing to take breaks just because of this more than I did in the past. With the desk at its lowest and my chair at its highest it still rubs.I also wish the headphone holder was a bit wider to accommodate a wider headphone headband. Also wish the wiring between the motor and the control was tidier. Honestly, it’s pretty messy and doesn’t have anything to secure it against itself which seems like a major oversight. I don’t mind not having a cable basket at the back and am very happy that it has a cable cutout though.Overall, I’m not disappointed but not like raving happy. I mentioned I got a standing desk to someone at work the other day and they asked for a recommendation as to what brand I got, and I just shrugged my shoulders because I would neither recommend nor not recommend it thus far.
